Text Box: 	In 1980 the New Hebrides became independent as Vanuatu.
	The Central Bank of Vanuatu began operations on January 1, 1981.
	On January 1, 1981 the New Hebrides Franc was renamed Vatu (from the local language name for stone).
	In May 1989 ‘The Central Bank of Vanuatu’ became ’Reserve Bank of Vanuatu’.
	New 10 000 VUV note was introduced into circulation in 2010 to coincide with the anniversary of Independence on 30th July. The note was the first in a new series of banknotes
