Text Box: The rate of the ‘won’ till 2001 was 2.16 / USD, based upon Kim Jong’s birthday, February 16. Now the rate is 142 / USD and the black market rate is about 3000 / USD, but it is difficult to use ‘won’ as the shops all want foreign currency. Especially outside North Korea there is no absolutely market for North Korea currency !! New won from 7.12.2009. (1 new=100 old).
