A referendum on joining the Eurozone was held on 28 September 2000, resulting in a 53.2% vote against joining.
If Denmark ever joins, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which are not part of the EU, but of Denmark, would have to hold a separate referendum to decide whether they want to switch to the euro. The outcome of this possibility is uncertain, as current trends seem to favor independence from Denmark.
